A Recent Review

Although the cafe (literally) caters for bikers, it seems also to be popular with cyclists and (pedestrian) members of the local community – that HAS to be good sign. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a lot of interesting memorabilia on the walls to occupy the eye. Mind you, the real strength of this particular venue is the quality and value of its food.

I ordered just a standard English breakfast (2xbacon, 2x sausage, 1xegg, 3xtoms, 1xbread and a cup of tea/Nescafe). At £5.50 (August 2015), the price was reasonable enough. However, once the food arrived and I hungrily tucked into it, it became apparent that the ingredients were actually of very high quality indeed and that this was going to be a ‘bargain’ meal. It was :-) .

The bacon was properly cooked, very salty, but also moist and juicy. The sausages were virtually ‘gourmet’ standard, being quite crumbly with a ‘herby’ tinge and devoid of any nasty fat or gristle – they were quite long, too. The egg yolk was rich and flavoursome (just as eggs used to be when I was young, before intense battery farming) and to my immense surprise, even the tinned tomatoes tasted ‘tangy’ and full of tomato taste, unlike the very ‘watery’ ones that I usually find in supermarkets these days.

About us

The famous Wessons Cafe has been on the High street in Horam since the year 2000. It is a family business run by Loz, Alex and Steve Wesson, Lizzie Rose and Nikki Pope . It is a large premises with seating for 120. Wesssons Cafe is a busy bustling place, very popular with motorcyclists and cyclists of all ages!

Steve is always building some kind of streetfighter or special which is always on view in various stages of construction, currently an Suzuki GSX 1400 Cafe racer and a lovely Triumph Rocket 111 Roadster, see gallery.

On the walls you can see ORIGINAL Paul Sample Ogri cartoon strips and art work. Paul has also drawn Ogri characters directly onto the wall. In the early days Wessons was the first and only Ogri Cafe!

We have always been a fan of British cafe culture and are doing our best to bring the traditional cafe back to life but with a nostalgic nod to the past.

We are supporters and fund raisers for Spinal Research charity. Look out for forthcoming events. Any suggestions for charity events will be welcome.
